Our Kol Am Family
Mi Shebeirach Reminder
We say the Mi Shebeirach prayer for
healing as a community each Shabbat to send healing to
those in need. To keep our list current, we remove names at the
end of each month and ask that congregants notify the temple
office if they wish to keep the name of a friend or loved one on
the list for the following month. When calling to add or keep
someone on the Mi Shebeirach list, please indicate their
relationship to you. As always, during the Mi Shebeirach
portion of our service, there will be an opportunity to include
additional people in our prayers of healing as the need arises.
Please continue to inform Kol Am’s Caring
Committee and/or the temple office of simchas (happy
occasions and milestones), illnesses or times of difficulty.

Opening
day for Kol Am summer softball will be Sunday, May 25, at 9:30
a.m. at a
Green
Trails
School
,
170 Portico Dr.
in
Chesterfield
. Kol Am summer softball is a tradition that was started many
years ago as a way to enable families to continue to get together
over the summer when there is no religious school.
Children and adults play together on “teams” formed
each work based on who is present. Play is very informal, strictly
recreational and is open to the entire congregation. We welcome
children and adults of all ages and all abilities.
Non-member friends and neighbors are welcome, too! The
softball crew meets every Sunday morning throughout the summer
months.
Batting
helmets are required for all children.

traditionally celebrated with bonfires and picnics.
We will celebrate Lag B’Omer and Shabbat at

p.m.
In keeping with the spirit of the holiday we will gather outdoors on the
patio at Kol Am for Shabbat blessings, a pizza dinner and plenty
of contests and games for all.
Please bring your own lawn chairs or blankets for
al fresco (outdoor) dining. The cost will be $10 per
person for adults and $5 for children ages 5-12.

Education Committee News
The
year has flown by at our Kol Am Intergenerational School (KAIS). I
can’t believe it is already May and we will be off for the
summer. While school will not be in session, Rabbi Séverine and
the Education Committee will be working hard over the summer to
plan for next year. I
am pleased to announce that all but one of our current teachers
will be returning next fall. Becky
Cohen, Mitch Furman, Ronni Kaminski, and Kimberly
White are all looking forward to working with our children
and adult students next year. Jenny DeSotel will be taking
a year off from teaching due to increasing work and family
commitments.
Registration
materials for the 2008-2009 school year will be mailed to all
congregants in May. We are offering an “early bird” discount
for those who enroll and pay in full by July 15. Our unique
intergenerational program offers life-long learning opportunities
for children and adults. Adults do not need to have children
enrolled in order to participate. Our adult classes provide a
wonderful opportunity to learn Hebrew and expand your knowledge of
our rich Jewish heritage.
Over
the summer our Education Committee will also be exploring
additional informal Jewish learning opportunities for adults.
We welcome suggestions and input from congregants. As
always, please feel free to call me if you have any questions or
would like to join the Education Committee.
